Review: Wildfire

Wildfire Wildfire by Ilona Andrews
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The amount of times I have read this book is insane.

I loved every little thing about it.
Writing odes not get better than this. Ok, I may be exaggerating a bit but trust me this was such a good one.

Review: The Wicked King

The Wicked King The Wicked King by Holly Black
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

Dnf

Dear future me,

I know you are wondering why you did not finish this book and hoping maybe when you read it for a second time, shit will make sense. Let me tell you something DO NOT BOTHER. Having doubts?

Let me give you some of the reason this book was not for you.

You did not connect with the writing at all. You did not connect with any of the characters as much as you tried and you certainly did not connect with the story.

You did not understand the premise of the story and most important it was very difficult to keep up with the realm. You definitely had questions. Lots and lots of questions which unfortunately remained unanswered because you could not read the whole story. It bored the shit out of you.

It is unlikely that you will reread this book.

So, as I said earlier do not bother giving it a second go.

Regards,
Past me on 25th March 2020.

Review: THE UNLEASHING

The Unleashing (Call of Crows, #1)The Unleashing by Shelly Laurenston
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

The two stars are strictly for VIG.

But below are some of the issues I had with this book :-

1. Too much information at once
You know my major problem with this book is that I was introduced to so many things at once that it was difficult to keep up. Yes, it’s the start of a series and as an author, I’m pretty sure her intention was to let us understand her world.
It was TMI that we did not need.
The best solution would be to introduce us gradually to it. You know like how Kresley Cole does in her IAD series.
Half of the time I did not remember who the hell was who and it was bad.

2. Too many characters
This goes hand in hand with the first issue.
There were too many characters. And what sucked, even more, it was difficult to realize who the main characters were. They did not get as much on-screen time. This being a series, some of the non-essential characters could have been introduced later on. in upcoming books.

3. MAIN CHARACTERS' CHEMISTRY
As I read a story, I need to feel connected to the main characters. It is essentially the fuel that powers up my reading mojo. I need to like the characters. I liked VIg to some extent but I just could not bring myself to like Kera. Too tightly wound up.
And I felt like they were not in love LOVE.
No angst. No powerful emotions flowing. NO caveman type of feelings. MH…

4. Maybe it's just me!!! I promise to try it another time. I could be the one tightly wound up at the moment. especially with the coronavirus aka COVID19 pandemic ruing a lot of things.

Review: Moon Called

Moon Called Moon Called by Patricia Briggs
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I read all nine books in this series back to back. (The nine available because I know for sure that the series is ongoing and dear book ten I am anxiously waiting for you.) the back to back thing is also the reason I had to write a general review of the series rather than go book by book. I just could not put this series down.

Somewhere in the middle of reading book one; I had to chastise myself for not getting to this book sooner. It is an awesome book and I am very happy with my boredom as it allowed to me to get my hands on such Excellency.
Patricia Briggs, you are a superstar.

Does this just happen to me? I take a book, read the synopsis and think myself this book is not my taste. Then when someone forces me to read it or my boredom forces me to read it I start thinking how stupid I was not for reading it in the first place.

The lesson here ladies and gentlemen is that do not judge a book by its synopsis. Let’s judge it after the first few chapters are read.

Anyway, back to the review… I loved the series. So far it is going great. It has kept me hooked and I have no doubt that if I was hooked then you will be too. Give it a chance.

The characters. I loved every one of them…Mercy you are doll. Adam you are the man..Samuel you give me shivers. The rest of you, I love you all.

Fae. Werewolves’ and vampires plus other magical creature all roll themselves into this series with each of them finding a way to my heart.

In short, This was a good read.

Review: Deadmen Walking

Deadmen Walking Deadmen Walking by Sherrilyn Kenyon
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Almost everyone I talk to know I am in love with the world Sherrilyn Kenyon creates. It does not matter what she writes I will love it and this book was no exception. No FUCKING exception.

I mean seriously she has me hooked on her writing so much so I believe I will love it even if she writes about dust. And no I am not shitting you, this is real. My love for her words and worlds is real.

DEADMEN WALKING…

The cover was awesome. Did you see the cover? The cover was awesome I repeat. Awesome. Even if
I did not know who the author was just based on the cover I would have been picking this book up.

I know some of you might not get me for saying that but this cover to me called me from the hell I was in. I loved it. Oh, I mean I love it.

To the characters especially “Du” if I had a throne I would abdicate it for you. You hot son of a gun….very hot indeed.

Review: Shadow's Seduction

Shadow's Seduction Shadow's Seduction by Kresley Cole
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

SO Kresley Cole has finished me with this one, completely finished me. I swear to the heavens she has ruined me and now I have to wait for the next book to come out and that is in 2018? Won’t I die waiting for the next book? Really? Why so long?

But she always does this…well sort of but still this woman knows how to capture me wholly and make people around me think I am insane. Are you kidding me with the ending of this book?

Let me polite now and go to the things about this book that made my heart go crazzzzzzy. (I’m taking about Britney spears crazy in the early days). I almost shaved my head while I was reading this and by shave I mean pull out my hair out with my own hands. Anyway, this was such a good read I tell you, such a good read.

But I have to say it had a wobbly first few pages. It got better but I almost did not continue with as the first few pages were more sexual than “storical”.(yes bitch, I know that’s not a word but one of the characteristic of language is that it is productive so yeah, deal with it. )

The characters were very interesting and so good together.

Caspion and Prince Mirceo

It felt good finally getting to read and know more about Caspion cause well aknow wewanted him eaten alive in the other book he was in. HA ha ha (does this make me a bad person? If so I shall repent.

In all honesty though, caspion I have welcomed you to my right side which is the only side you want to be in.

Mirceo, you were a charm and I as I am writing this review I felt the need to go reread this one os I shall do so..

The story was amazing as always but kresley this time you gutted me with that horrible cliffhanger.

Talk about dying a thousand death as I await Kosmina’ book.

All in all though, great book. loved it with all my heart…

Review: Sword of Darkness

Sword of Darkness by Kinley MacGregor
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I read book three before I read book one of this series and no, book three did not ruin this book for me. matter of fact it made extra curious about this book.

So was I disappointed because we all know the anxious and more curious you get the better you want it to be and the more disappointing you will be if it takes a nosedive.

but no, it was a good book and I was certainly not disappointed at all.

This story brought on a new world to me. I am familiar with the King Arthur's world but not very much. I know very little so for me to read this story that was set in those times, was a new whole world. one that I liked.

Kerrigan and Seren made a good couple.

I recommend.

Review: Tangled

Tangled Tangled by Rebecca Zanetti
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So what are my thoughts exactly after reading this book?

Mh, well that is definitely not a hard question to answer. To start off, this was a good read and one I had hopefully expected it to be so when I picked up the book up. Talk about intuition and I was right up the alley of a good one.

I have never had my eyes feat upon words from this author before, Rebbecca Zanetti you were brilliant in this one.

Well, so was it enough that I am going in search for your other books? Yes, a definite must.
Back to the book in question; I am in love with this one. Tangled fulfilled my need of an excellent romance and a tad of dashing paranormal. And all that I found in a less than 150-page novella.

Cuteness overload…

I loved the story, let me begin with that. The vampire and the witch. Though I have to admit even if you are not a paranormal romance fan you can till read this as the book is not overloaded with the paranormal so much. For me it was more of romance than anything else.

And I know it is part of a bigger series (which I am going to search for now) but I was able to understand it regardless. It is very hard sometimes to understand a book which is part of a series that you read without having read the other books. So, amazing work Rebecca.

The characters.

Theo and Ginny…well you two were a treat. I liked you individually and then as a couple. Although the story did not give me deepness toward your story but you two made sense. Perfect sense.

I loved the writing style and I have to mention that before I officially met Uncle Ben I was worried for a minute but he turned out to be spectacular.

Loved this.

Review: Dragonmark

Dragonmark Dragonmark by Sherrilyn Kenyon
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Centuries ago, Illarion was betrayed– a dragon made human against his will, then forced to serve humanity as a dragonmount in their army, and to fight for them in barbaric wars, even while he hated everything about them. Enslaved and separated from everyone he knew and from his own dragon brothers, he was forced into exile in a fey realm where he lost the only thing he ever really loved.

Now he has a chance to regain what’s been lost— to have the one thing he covets most. But only if he gives up his brothers and forsakes the oaths he holds most dear. Yet what terrifies him most isn’t the cost his happiness might incur, it’s the fact that there is just enough human in his dragon’s heart that he might actually be willing to pay it and betray everything and everyone– to see the entire world burn...

This book is still a four tar for me no doubts but it would have been a five star had it not been for the parts of this book that I already knew about.

Was it half of the story Or more than half of it?

As a reader of the darkhunter series of books, most information was already in the previous books. I could go on and mention a few of those parts but then it would be taking away for the people who have yet to read this. And I want it to remain spoiler free.

I liked this book for sure. And I go the chance to illaryon a bit better but that’s just it, I wanted something more out of this book.

But hey..at least I read this book.

Review: Z

Z Z by Larissa Ione
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Larissa writes one of my favourite paranormal romance and the world she created has me always going for more new stories as she creates them. This was not new, having seen Z in the previous book I really wanted to know what was going on in his life. I needed to know his life story and how it all ended for him.

And yes I got it.

Sure this was a short book, not as long but still it fulfilled me.

Good work.

Review: Dragonswan

Dragonswan Dragonswan by Sherrilyn Kenyon
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I recently realized that I did not read this one when I was reading the whole Dark Hunter universe series so well, I just had to read especially since I have really missed me some good paranormal romances.

Sherrilyn Kenyon does not disappoint. NEVER!

This was a fast paced novel that was fun to read and it brought with it smiles and a simple paranormal story that I will recommend it to everyone.

I enjoyed reading this one and as much as I want to write more, I find, sometimes that the shortest sentences describing something make the best references.

I loved it!

Review: The Golden Dynasty

The Golden Dynasty
by Kristen Ashley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I do not know what was better about this book, me reading this book and the main Lahn who kept reminding me so much of Jason Momoa's character Khal Drogo in game of thrones or what!
It was a love story and an adventure that surpassed so many books I have read in the recent months. I do not even know how I decided to read this series in the first. All I can say is that I am thankful to have read such an amazing book.
The Golden dynasty was fantastically weird at some points especially the beginning when the wife hunt was on but after that I found myself falling for every thing.
A sweet, marvelous ride and a real true pleasure reading this.
Lahn and Circe, you sweethearts!

Review: Dragonbane

Dragonbane Dragonbane by Sherrilyn Kenyon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Out of all the mysterious boarders who call Sanctuary home, no one is more antisocial or withdrawn than Maxis Drago. But then, it’s hard to blend in with the modern world when you have a fifty foot wingspan.

Centuries ago, he was cursed by an enemy who swore to see him fall. An enemy who took everything from him and left him forever secluded.

But Fate is a bitch, with a wicked sense of humor. And when she throws old enemies together and threatens the wife he thought had died centuries ago, he comes back with a vengeance. Modern day New Orleans has become a battleground for the oldest of evils. And two dragons will hold the line, or go down in flames.
Right now I have a huge smile plastered on my lips. You know the feeling when you are reading a good book and you want to get to the end so you can satisfy your curiosity about how everything ends but at the same time you do not want it to end?.

Well, that was me during the reading of this whole book.

Another book by Ms. Kenyon that I am in love with and honestly did not want to end. it was just so beautiful...very very beautiful.

"I went to war to practice for marriage"

the words they say. In short this is Sherrilyn and you can never be i disappointed. I have never been disappointed in any book she has ever written and I am happy she is among the few authors that can keep me hooked in a series as long as this one.

And this is a second chance romance with mixed secret baby. I was in my happy space reading this....so thank you very much.

Her heroes are just great. Sexy, hot, alphas and immortal (because these are the type of men who need to live forever). Her heroes are super cool that I want to be them. wohoo!

And it was no different for Max and Seraphina. they were great together and the emotions that coursed through them were vividly felt by anyone reading the story. This is my goal and trust me it was Goal reached.

Amazing book!

Review: Son of No One

Son of No One Son of No One by Sherrilyn Kenyon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It’s not easy being life’s own personal joke, but Josette Landry has made an unstable peace with the beast. Life will continue to throw every bad thing it has at her, and she will continue to not put her head in an oven. But that’s okay. That which doesn’t kill her will just require a few hours of mental insanity. Completely down on her luck, Josette takes a job with a local paranormal group trying to get their own cable show as a photographer and camerawoman. Yeah, they’re even crazier than she is. The only paranormal thing she believes in is the miracle that keeps her rusted out hoopty running. But when her group accidentally releases something truly evil into the world, they are forced to call in reinforcement.

From the moment Josette meets Cadegan, she knows something about him isn’t quite right. And it’s not just because she can’t even begin to pronounce his last name: Maboddimun. Mysterious and armed with lethal sarcasm, he seems a lot older than his apparent age…

Centuries ago, Cadegan sold his soul for vengeance against the betrayer who cursed him. Forced against his will to do good, he hates everything in life. All he wants is a way out. But for the damned there is only eternal suffering. And yet there is something about Josette that intrigues him as much as it irritates and frustrates him. Something he can’t seem to fight, and the last time he felt this way about a woman, it cost him his soul.

He knows he has to stay away from her, but the evil her friends unleashed is hellbent on consuming her soul. Something he cannot allow. If one more innocent is taken, he will be sent back to an unimaginable prison that makes his current hell look like paradise. But how can he keep her safe when his being with her is the greatest threat of all?.

I do not know but I think there is something about Sherrilyn Kenyon's writing that boggles my mind and make me crave more and I do not know what it is exactly.

She is the best writer and every time I read one of her books I am drawn by the depth of the characters and the depth of the story itself as well as the length of her books.

And it was not any different for this book. I was in love, hook, line and sinker. and man just amazing. it made me feel things and stuff, made me smile and most of all I connected with the characters so much and we all know no one can write a tortured hero like Kenyon... Blown away.

Son of No one. Wow!

Jo and Cadegan.

you two were awesome. I loved you very much and oh my gosh, at one point I got jealous of your love and if I could wish myself into a book then this would be it as much as sometimes it got a bit scary...well not that much but still I am in love with your love.

My views about every other character that appear in this book... I want to read all of their stories (for the ones I have yet to read)

Review: Revenant

Revenant Revenant by Larissa Ione
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

HELL HATH NO FURY . . .

For five thousand years, Revenant believed he was alone in the world, a fallen angel beyond any redemption. Now he finds he has a twin brother who had all the light and love Revenant was denied. Caught in a tug of war between Heaven and Hell, he must weigh his thirst for revenge against his desire for a mysterious female named Blaspheme—a female whose very origins could deliver him into salvation . . . or destruction.

LIKE AN ANGEL SCORNED

Blaspheme has a deadly secret: she's the forbidden offspring of an angel and a fallen angel. Hunted by both heavenly and satanic forces, she has survived only by laying low and trusting no one. When Revenant claims he can save them both, how can she possibly believe him? But the powerful angel is persistence incarnate and for Blaspheme, there's no place she can hide in Heaven or Hell where he won't find her . ..

I loved it to the very end of the last page of this book. I loved every sentence, every word, every emotion that barred it's way from the book to the depth of my soul. This book for me was the best I have read in a long time. Thanks

Review: Fated to a Cougar

Fated to a Cougar Fated to a Cougar by Marisa Chenery
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

This is the fourth book in the series and I have to say it can be read as a standalone though you will get more of the story if you read the others. But hey look at me I did not start book one I just went on to read book three and was not at all confused. So your choice really in the end…

Anyway, this was a good read as I said I easily understood what was going on without the complication of a very complex story. This was just a paranormal romance that featured cougar shifters and humans.

It was short!

Was I disappointed that it was this short? Yes I was. As much as I loved the simple storyline and what not I wanted a much longer story because I love the way the author writes. So please author if you read this review, more words in the next books you write cause pretty little Esther loves your words and how you connect them…

To the characters, Grady you were a charm and so was your leading lady Sage was awesome too. The two of you together were good but I sometimes felt she was more of the alpha and you know me I like my men to be the alphas in the relationship. In other words she was topping you from the bottom.

Anyhow…I recommend this to people who like a quick read.
